Blacktress UK is proud to be co-producing this season in association with The Actors Centre, as part of the John Thaw Initiative. The John Thaw Initiative was established in 2018 and is a showcase of innovative works-in-progress theatre. A season on the voices of Black British Womxn will give a platform to self identifying Black Womxn and their shows. The initiative offers a FREE platform to stage a performance and receive feedback from the audience.
This season is a celebration of the multifaceted experience of Black British Womxn. We are interested in your stories on race and identity, motherhood and sisterhood, faith and cultural practices, hair, gender, queerness, and everything in between. We want to encourage work that is unapologetic and specific to the experience of the Black British Womxn.
We invite applications from black and mixed race womxn of the African diaspora.
The work will be will be performed in the 50-seat John Thaw Studio at the Tristan Bates Theatre from October - December.
